Pelin Bilgic posted a perfect shooting performance on her U20 European Championship Women debut to help Turkey sweep aside Ukraine 86-61 in Group C in Debrecen.
The guard showed no signs of fatigue from her recent exploits at the U18 European Championship Women in Romania by scoring 21 points and not missing a single shot in a truly stellar performance which rubber-stamped her status as one of Turkey's brightest young talents.
Having endured a terrible start to the game, Turkey had to come from behind and overturn an early double-digit deficit after Ukraine had blasted their way into a 16-3 advantage.
Once the Turkish players shrugged off their sluggish start, they came alive and posted a healthy 18-5 run of their own to ensure the scores were level at the end of the first period.
From that point onwards, it was one-way traffic as Turkey destroyed their opponent in convincing fashion, despite the best efforts of Ukraine star Alina Iagupova who poured in 22 points.
Ozge Kavurmacioglu was on fire from downtown for the winning team, converting three triples from three attempts as Turkey made an early and convincing statement of intent.
