|Poland's Magdalena Zietara made 11 od 17 shots from the field to finish with a game-high 26 points|
A sparkling and vibrant 26-point performance by Magdalena Zietara helped Poland rack up a convincing 80-66 Group B victory against the Netherlands on day two of the U20 European Championship Women.
Unfortunately it wasn't all cheers from the Polish team who headed straight to a distant corner of Fonix Hall when the final buzzer sounded.
For that was where hospital-bound Martyna Stelmach was lying on a stretcher nursing a knee injury which had forced her out of the game during the second half.
Bizarrely, only seconds after the early departure of Stelmach, Netherlands forward Jill Bettonvil also had to be helped off the court with a bad looking injury and unsurprisingly, the subsequent delay led to the game fizzling out when the action resumed.
Poland was always in control after a blistering 13-0 start which helped them storm to a 41-26 half-time lead and meant Netherlands was always playing catch-up.
An improved third period gave coach Rene Spandauw and his Dutch team some hope, but just when their fight-back was gathering some momentum, the double injury delay proved an unwelcome stoppage.
In addition to the starring role of Zietara, Poland was also helped by the supporting cast with Agata Szczepanik and Dorota Mistygacz both posting excellent performances.
